1895 the first standard was written, before that they
entered the dogs to shows as st. Bernhard, mountaindog and
leonberger. 1901 the “ Nationaler Leonberger Klub”
was founded and they started to write pedigree. The first dog in
the pedigree was
Barry Germaniae born 23/6 1889.
1963 the first leonberger was registered in the Swedish
kennelclub. Many years later the 27th of
September 1979 the first Swedish litter was born.
Much
have happened in the breed since the beginning, both good and bad.
Mine and all others ambition are to breed leonbergers with good
mental and fysical health and a long life with their owners. I
also want to keep the size, bone, mask and a good anatomy.
